WooCommerce Store Development

WooCommerce is flexible, which is both its strength and the reason so many stores go wrong. Products get set up inconsistently, variations multiply until the admin crawls, and every new requirement becomes another plugin. The result is a store where checkout slows down during busy periods, reports do not match the payment gateway and nobody is sure which extension is responsible for what.

We treat a store as a system. First we plan the product structure: categories, attributes, variations, and which data belongs in custom fields. Then we choose a short list of well-maintained extensions for payments, shipping, tax, subscriptions or memberships and configure them properly. Custom code fills the gaps, written to work with High-Performance Order Storage so order data sits in dedicated tables rather than the posts table. Checkout and cart pages are kept light, and we test the whole purchase flow on staging with real payment sandbox transactions before launch.

We have built and maintained ecommerce sites for over a decade, including a migration that merged two WooCommerce stores, with memberships and an LMS, into a single domain with all reporting tools in the green. That kind of project teaches you where stores tend to break, and we design around those points from the start.

What's included

What You Get

Product and catalog structure

Categories, attributes and variations planned so filtering works, the admin stays responsive and product pages show the right information without workarounds.

Payments

Stripe and PayPal configured with the methods your customers expect, including wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay where supported, plus webhook checks so orders and payments stay in sync.

Shipping and tax

Shipping zones, rates, carrier integrations and tax rules set up for the regions you sell to, tested against real addresses and order sizes.

Subscriptions and memberships

Recurring products, member pricing and restricted content configured with WooCommerce Subscriptions and Memberships or a suitable alternative, including renewal and failed-payment handling.

Checkout performance

Lean cart and checkout pages, scripts loaded only where needed, and the block-based checkout used where your extensions support it, so the last step of the sale is the fastest.

HPOS-compatible custom code

Any custom functionality is written against WooCommerce's order APIs and tested with High-Performance Order Storage enabled, so it keeps working as WooCommerce evolves.

How it works

Our Process

01

Store audit or planning

For new stores we plan the catalog and order flow; for existing stores we audit extensions, data and performance. Either way you get a written scope and fixed price.

02

Build and configure

We build the theme templates, configure products, payments, shipping and tax, and add custom features on a staging copy of the store.

03

Test the full purchase flow

We run sandbox orders across products, coupons, shipping zones, subscriptions and refunds, and check emails, stock levels and reports.

04

Launch and monitor

We go live at a quiet time, watch the first real orders and payment webhooks closely and fix anything that shows up in the first days.

Deliverables

  • Shipping and tax rules set up and tested for your selling regions
  • Custom templates and features built and tested with HPOS enabled

FAQ

WooCommerce Store Development: Questions Answered

What drives the cost of a WooCommerce project?

The number of products and how complex their variations are, the payment and shipping rules, subscriptions or memberships, integrations with accounting or inventory systems, and whether existing product and order data needs migrating. A small catalog with standard checkout is a very different job from a B2B store with custom pricing. We price each project as a fixed scope.

Can you fix my existing store instead of rebuilding it?

Often, yes. We start with an audit of extensions, theme and database, then recommend what to keep, replace or remove. Many slow or unstable stores improve a lot by cutting overlapping extensions, cleaning old data and fixing a few heavy templates, without a full rebuild.

What access do you need to get started?

An administrator account on WordPress, hosting or SFTP access, and read access to your payment gateway dashboard so we can check webhooks and test mode. For integrations we also need API credentials or a sandbox account for the connected system. We work on staging, so your live store keeps trading while we build.

What happens if an order or payment breaks after launch?

We monitor the first orders closely after launch and fix defects in our work quickly. Payment and order issues are treated as urgent. For ongoing protection, a maintenance plan covers extension updates tested on staging first, backups and uptime monitoring so problems are caught before customers report them.
