Custom Web Development for Work Plugins Cannot Handle

When an existing plugin or SaaS tool almost fits but not quite, we build the part you need: a custom WordPress plugin, a client portal, an internal dashboard or a standalone web app, written cleanly and documented so it can be maintained.

Custom Web Development

Many businesses reach a point where their website has to do something specific. Calculate a quote from a set of rules. Let customers log in and see their projects. Pull data from three systems into one dashboard. The usual response is to stack plugins and spreadsheets until something works, and the result is fragile, slow and understood by nobody.

We start by understanding the workflow, then decide what should be custom and what should not. Often the right answer is a focused custom WordPress plugin that adds custom post types, admin screens, REST endpoints or blocks to a site you already have. For larger applications with complex data, user roles or heavy background processing, we build on Laravel or Node.js, with WordPress handling the marketing site if needed. We write PHP and JavaScript to current standards, use version control from day one and keep business logic out of theme files so a redesign does not break your features.

Custom code only helps you if someone can maintain it later. Every project ships with a Git repository you own, setup notes, a description of the data model and comments where the logic is not obvious. With 600+ projects behind us, we have inherited plenty of undocumented custom work, and we write ours so the next developer, whether that is us or someone else, can pick it up quickly.

What's included

What You Get

Custom WordPress plugins

Self-contained plugins that add custom post types, fields, admin screens, shortcodes, blocks, cron jobs or REST endpoints, independent of your theme.

Custom themes and blocks

Block themes and custom Gutenberg blocks built for your content, so editors get exactly the building blocks they need and nothing more.

Portals and member areas

Login areas with role-based access, user dashboards, document libraries, forms and notifications, built on WordPress or as a separate app.

Dashboards and internal tools

Admin dashboards and reporting screens that combine data from your site and connected systems, with filters, exports and access control.

Laravel and Node.js applications

Standalone web apps and APIs when the data, scale or logic outgrow WordPress, with queues, scheduled jobs and authentication handled properly.

Code review and rescue

Review of existing custom code for security, performance and maintainability, with a plan to fix, refactor or replace it.

How it works

Our Process

01

Workflow and requirements

We map how the process works today, who uses it and what data is involved, then agree a written specification, scope and fixed price.

02

Data model and prototype

We design the data structure and build a working prototype of the main screens, so you can test the flow before the details are finished.

03

Build and test

Features are built in a Git repository, deployed to staging and tested against the specification, including permissions and edge cases.

04

Deploy and document

We deploy to production, hand over the repository and documentation and stay available for fixes during an agreed support window.

Deliverables

  • A written specification agreed before development starts
  • Source code in a Git repository owned by you
  • A deployed, tested feature or application on your hosting
  • Documentation of the data model, settings and integrations
  • Setup and deployment notes for future developers
  • An agreed post-launch support window for defects

FAQ

Custom Web Development: Questions Answered

How do you decide between a plugin and custom development?

If a well-maintained plugin covers most of the need and can be configured for the rest, that is usually cheaper and safer. We recommend custom work when plugins would need heavy modification, when several plugins would have to be stitched together or when the workflow is central to how your business makes money.

What affects the cost of custom development?

The number of screens and user roles, the complexity of the business rules, integrations with other systems, data migration and how much reporting is needed. A single-purpose plugin is a small project. A multi-role portal with integrations is a larger one. We prototype first so the price is based on a clear specification.

Who owns the code?

You do. The code is delivered in a repository under your account, and we do not lock features behind our own licenses. If a third-party library is used, we note its license in the documentation.

What happens if something breaks after launch?

Defects in our work found during the support window are fixed at no extra cost. After that, you can book fixes as needed or move to a maintenance arrangement. Because the code is documented and version controlled, we can trace exactly what changed and when.
